Speed Awareness Course FAQ

What is the Speed Awareness Course?
The Speed Awareness Course is an alternative to prosecution for motorists who have been detected speeding. The course is used as an alternative to the £60 fine and 3 penalty points, and is designed as an educational alternative. More information can be found on our Speed Awareness Course page.

Am I eligable?
Courses are only available to those who have been invited to take one by an authority. Having attended a course, you will not be eligable to take another one for 3 years.

How much does it cost?
The price of the course is somewhere between £70-100. The price varies between different areas and service providers. For more information on price, please check our Service Providers page.

Do I still get points?
No. Once you have successfully completed the course, you will not receive a fine, any points on your license, and no further action will be taken.

What if I cannot attend?
If you cannot attend the course arranged, you need to contact your service provider as soon as possible. Either an alternative date will be arranged for you to take the course, or you will be refered back to the authorities.
